Love, Marriage and Sex. Pursuing forever together

I'm a multi passionate woman who finds purpose in sharing, beauty in simplicity and joy in nature. When I write, the ink spills from a depth that is meant to evoke emotion and offer relatability. I have lived through hell both near and far from God but His love has been my strength and redemption. I am a wife, a mama (birth, bio, adoptive), and an artist. I am slowly learning not to root my identity in what I've endured or the things I've accomplished. Nature renews me and art is what God used to replace the habits that once held me in chains. Anywho ...

When I first heard that Raquel would be hosting a retreat, there was no doubt in my mind that I had to be there. I immediately applied for a scholarship and began sharing about the retreat with friends and family. I was thrilled when I heard that I had received a scholarship, but I knew I was still a long ways away from making the retreat a reality for myself. Being a single income family makes budgeting a bit tight at times. Although I had it in my mind that somehow or someway I was going to get where I needed to go, for both my healing and because who doesn’t want to meet Raquel?! I mean, for real! Knowing it would still be a challenge, I began a sub fundraiser. Over the course of six weeks I sold 125 sandwiches, and spent six hours delivering them to people. As I delivered door-to-door to friends and family I got to share more of my heart and why I needed to go to this retreat and the healing that would come from it. As people paid for their subs, they also began to give donation after donation. I was simply in awe of the community that surrounded me. After the sub sale was complete and all donations were counted, I ended up being $300 short in making the retreat a reality. The only place I could think of to go was to church. I emailed my pastor and assistant Pastor. which has subsequently opened up a door to a relationship with them along with added healing and support in my journey with grief. Without hesitation, they sent money directly to Raquel to fulfill my spot. The retreat was more than I could ask for, I feel like I am still comprehending and healing and learning more and more about myself every day and the doors that the retreat opened up for me to grieve, although not grieving alone anymore. No matter how many hours of fundraising, or work, or emails sent it would take, I would do it all over again to be able to attend another retreat.

was truly one of the most transformative weekends of my life. It was overflowing with laughter, intentional love, and deeply rooted support.

From the moment I arrived, I felt seen, cherished, and poured into.

I have gone to numerous conferences and retreats and none compared to this one.

Raquel’s heart for others is evident in every thoughtful detail—from the personalized gifts for each guest, to the nourishing meals, to the atmosphere of safety and grace she so carefully cultivated. She is transparent and raw.

What sets this retreat apart is how holistic the care truly is. It’s not just about rest—it’s about restoration. Raquel brought in a licensed therapist and a wellness/fitness coach, not for lectures, but to teach joy, fun, healing, and wholeness. The weekend felt sacred—like God Himself had handpicked every conversation, every connection.

Raquel created more than a retreat—she built a refuge for the weary, a sanctuary for the soul. Even after we returned home, she ensured the community remained intact by connecting us through social media, turning strangers into sisters.

She is a visionary—faithful to the call of God on her life—and this world desperately needs more spaces like the one she created.

I left changed, filled, and reminded that I am not alone in my story.

The Resilient Retreat was the single most healing weekend of my life.

I’ve heard many of the concepts shared before, but something about the way they were presented here made them finally come alive. Every part of the weekend from the sessions, the games, and activities, to the meals and conversations, were so thoughtfully and intentionally designed. It was clear that nothing was thrown together. Every detail was wrapped in love, creating an environment where I felt safe, seen, and truly cared for. The retreat didn’t just teach me about healing. It allowed me to experience it in a way that changed me from the inside out. I left lighter, more grounded, and filled with a sense of hope I hadn’t felt before.

My second most memorable phone call, as a birthmom, came on a random December day. “What are you doing on February 5th?” It was my firstborn … “That’s almost two months away, nothing that I can think of.” She didn’t hesitate, “Great, now you have plans. You can come pick me up from the airport! Mom and dad said it was okay, I thought it would be a good Christmas gift!” It wasn’t a good Christmas gift … it was a great one!

Some are obvious, like the digital photo frame you can add to from anywhere, along with a more budget friendly option, a picture frame that records a message. But I also suggest more practical items like throw blankets and cozy socks … items that are regularly used and can help loved ones feel close during the time you’re apart. Below I’ve shared a bit of backstory or explanation for each item I’ve included (both physical and experience based) because at the end of the day, it’s the thought that counts, right?

If not, no worries, just search "keepsakes from old baby clothes" on Pinterest or "keepsake quilt" online. You can also ask around and find a sweet grandma who sews and commission her to make a stuffed animal, throw pillow or quilt from those special pieces of clothes. I've been saving onesies and t-shirts since my girls were tiny and plan to have them each a quilt made before they move out.
